Our Projects
Boundary Setting
Teaching students about what boundaries are, why they can be helpful, and why having boundaries is healthy and completely okay. We will also teach students how to effectively set boundaries through activities and examples.
Emotional Abuse
Emotional abuse can be hard to spot, so we aim to equip your students with the knowledge to be able to identify when emotional abuse may be occuring in a relationship involving them and in relationships involving others in their community. Further, we teach students how to approach and manage relationships with emotional abuse.
Gender Roles in Media - Fact or Fiction?
The media students take in each day strongly impacts their views of what "normal" gender roles are in society, even if it may not be apparent at first glance. Teen Matter aims to help students unlearn harmful tropes, and introduces them to the varied and personal interpretations of what is "normal" for one gender or another.
Consent
Consent is key to all interactions your students will have, yet it has been severely underplayed in media and common knowledge. Teen Matter aims to teach students the importance of consent, what does and does not count as affirmative consent, and more, all through interactive activities with students.
LGBTQ+ Awareness
We introduce students to LGBTQ+ identities and relationships with the aim of increasing awareness of various sexualites and romantic orientations, with the aim of making the next generation of leaders inclusive of all people and normalizing diverse interpretations of love and attraction.
Physical Abuse
Although physical abuse is often more easy to spot than emotional abuse, it can still be hard for victims to understand what counts as physical abuse. Through this course, we aim to equip students with knowledge about common forms of physical abuse, and affirm their right to a relationship that is healthy. Although they may never use these skills, developing them is important in case they are ever in a relationship that involves abuse.
